Ron English.

Yesterday, my design class took a feildtrip to our art gallery on campus where artwork by Ron English was being showcased. I had never heard of him before, and now I can't get him off my mind.

He's most known for his so called "vandalism" on billboards. He creates spoof advertising that doesn't lie to America and illegally posts them on billboards all over. He claims art isn't made to sit in a gallery for a few weeks. It's made to be seen and make a statement. And there is no doubt that Ron's art is made to be seen. I find it inspiring the risks he takes to share what he's passionate about with the world. His artwork has such meaning and is so incredibly well done. Here were a few of my favorite pieces.

As crazy as this may sound coming from a fashion blogger, I've struggled with what my style is. In fact, creating this blog has immensely helped me do some soul searching. I know what I like, but can't seem to hone in on how to portray that in what I wear. Lately, I've come to find that the bohemian 70's look really hits home for me and discovering this, has made shopping a lot easier. Hippies have always brought a lot of inspiration to me and for some reason it took me far too long to realize that my style can be a canvas of my inspiration.  Besides, "We are shaped and fashioned by what we love."

If you had to label your style, what would you call it?

Alexa Chung? Think Again.

Move over Alexa Chung, British tv hostess Jameela Jamil is large and in charge! ..atleast, her impeccable style is. Though I have yet to meet her, her style portrays an aura of confidence in which I find extremely inspiring.  Believe it or not, she's actually agreed to trade closets with me for a day.. she just doesn't know it yet :)

Bridget Bardot.

A little morning inspiration while I was getting dressed. Bridget Bardot's all-American "it" girl look with a twist of rebellion is totally inspiring. Isn't she gorgeous?!

Black n' Orange a la Mode.

trick or treat
Orange seems to be one of those colors that only a small selection of people can wear well and I am definitely not one of them. But because halloween is right around the corner, I've decided to dust off the few orange clothes I do have and wear them not only in celebration, but also in place of a costume as I don't think I'll be dressing up this year.

What are you dressing as this Halloween??

Rainy Day.

Photobucket

I love the rain. I love the feeling I get inside on a rainy day, and the smell of the street with a fresh pavement of rain. I love the warm, cozy and cute clothes I get to wear, listening to it fall, the gray tones outside, and mornings like today where I can wake up and sit in my warm bed, sipping hot coffee and blogging. I don't want it to go. If I ever move to another city, it will be to follow the rain.

Boys.

[all images via thesartorialist]

I've recently discovered that much of my inspiration comes from guys..(as weird as that sounds). I envy how effortless their style appears and how with the right pair of ripped up jeans, the perfectly distressed tee, and a pair of loafers, they are ready to go. I love when a man has some style. I've even concluded that if I ever design clothing, I think I'll start in menswear.

The men in these pictures are the kind that steal my heart with a single glance...

...especially these two.

F21 Goes 70's.

Photobucket

If you've been around my blog long enough, you know by know that I love the 70's. Lucky for me, Forever 21 has come out with a 70's inspired line! Though it doesn't quite take the place of real 70's vintage clothes, they did a great job recreating it. Here's one of my favorite vintage lines, Spanish Moss in comparison to a few of Forever 21's new 70's line.

[Vogue October 2010]

Finding the time to sit down and really enjoy a good magazine is starting to seem nearly impossible. The stack of "to-be-read" magazines continues to pile up as my schedule continues to fill up. After finally getting to read over the latest issue of Vogue, I felt so much inspiration. Carrie Mulligan is such a sweet classic beauty and her impeccable, effortless style continues to put me in awe. The pieces used in this shoot are so breathtaking and no one could have worn them better. It's so nice feeling inspired, isn't it?
