Bike Ride.

I had a day off yesterday, words that too often sound foreign to me, and I chose to spend my free time wisely.. I use that term loosely. After sleeping in, my sister and I rode our bikes to Old Towne Orange and ever-so-elegantly scarfed down a whole medium margarita pizza at Zeto’s. Unfortunately, part of growing up means the ideal image of summer.. sleeping in and going to the beach every day.. quickly becomes but a dream. I’ve been working so much lately that it hasn’t felt like summer. But bike rides and pizza turned my dream summer into reality. It finally felt like summer and as you can tell, I made my day incredibly productive.

thrifted dress, thrifted belt, Delicious heels, vintage bangles

This dress has been sitting in my closet for months, dying to be worn.. and I've been dying to wear it. Unfortunately it's see-through, and finding the perfect dress for underneath has managed to hold my dress hostage for longer than I would have liked. While this wasn't how I had imagined wearing this dress, it atleast got it's time to shine.

A Wasteless Summer.

American Apparel tank and belt, thrifted skirt, heels from Target

Inspired by the motto of Salvage Life Vintage, mentioned in a previous post, I have decided to take on a summer challenge. I will only purchase eco-friendly, re-purposed, thrifted or vintage items. I won't buy anything new, with the exception of a few necessities. I’ve realized that we overproduce SO many clothes in the world that go unused and disposed of improperly.. every little change can help. A majority of the world has already taken on the trend of using canvas bags at grocery stores, now we must take the next step. I’ll share my updates on this challenge throughout the summer, the tears and pain that come along with passing up H&M and F21. I urge all of you bloggers to take on this challenge!
Wish me luck!

Whoever invented braiding is pure genius. Braids have come to my rescue recently on my bad hair days. They're so quick and easy and not to mention, stylish! And what's even more great? They look good on everyone. There are so many different ways to braid your hair so if you think you're not much of a braid girl, perhaps you just haven't found the right braid for you. Hats, head scarves, and head bands are all perfect go-to accessories for bad hair days so don't be afraid to wear them! In fact, I just purchased some great head accessories from American Apparel. Can't wait to share them!

Feelin Fringey.

Fringe is everywhere, including on the cover of the latest issue of LA magazine. I wasn't so sure about it right away, but fringe is definitely growing on me, especially after seeing Sienna rock it. If you're anything like me, you might find yourself questioning how to wear it, without looking like you're attending a costume party as either a flapper or indian. I've discovered that because fringe is a statement piece of clothing, it is best paired with something simple. If your top has fringe on it, I suggest wearing something solid and tight on the bottom. Get fringey this summer and try it out on you!!

Kaitlin Shirt, H&M biker shorts, F21 heels

Yesterday was Father's Day and unfortunately, I spent it working. But after working all day, I joined my dad and sister for a delicious dinner followed by some late night tv and icecream. My dad does so much for me and it was nice to have a day dedicated to him and show my appreciation.

I got these biker shorts a while ago and haven't quite figured out how to wear them. With it being summer, they're the perfect substitution to leggings. But I'm not sure if I love them yet.. what do you think? Would you wear them?

Salvage Life.

Salvage Life is a vintage line that we carry at my work that I am simply in love with. Just the other day, I met the owner of the line, Beth, and couldn't help but be envious of her amazing career that consists of finding vintage items and building relationships with vintage stores. My only problem would be wanting to keep the clothes instead of sell them! :) The line is awesome and promotes sustainable living, a lifestyle of reusing what is on the planet whenever possible. I always get so excited when she brings in new clothes and jewelry but have yet to purchase one of her pieces. I know I won't be able to stand still much longer before sticking my hands on one! f21 head scarf, unknown dress, old navy wedges

The color yellow mixed with bows and frilly dresses brings back memories of being a child. While I would give anything for those days back, I've realized I wouldn't get to wear the fun heels and wedges I get as an adult! I ordered these wedges online earlier this week and was incredibly anxious for their arrival. I was lucky to find my old yellow polka dotted head scarf to help tie in the yellow in my shoes. If you accessorize with one bright object, be sure to tie that color in somewhere else in your outfit as well. For example, my yellow shoes and yellow head scarf. I find that it really helps balance out your outfit.

Hope you all had a lovely week. It's Friday! :)

Nothing makes me happier than getting new shoes in the mail... okay, almost nothing! I ordered these heels on sale for $13 on F21's website and they arrived so fast that I hardly had any time to sit impatiently waiting. To double the fun, I also received another pair of wedges I ordered online from Old Navy. So to sum it up, yesterday couldn't have been a better day :)

I enjoyed a delicious stack of pancakes this morning while catching up with my friend Heather at one of my favorite restaurants, the Filling Station. It's located in Old Town Orange, making it an enjoyable place to eat outside. After breakfast, we strolled around and did some thrift shopping..in hopes of walking off all the yummy food in our full tummies! Though that wasn't much of a success, the thrift shopping was. I found a blouse for $1 and I was sold! Food does make my tummy happy, but shopping makes my heart happy :)
